The presidential candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), Hamza Al-Mustapha, denied stepping down for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Tuesday.

Al-Mustapha made the remarks while speaking on Human Rights Radio FM in Abuja.

The report that he stepped down for Atiku is false, according to the presidential candidate.

He stated that the statement issued by the AA’s factional chairman, Kenneth Udeze, is a hoax.

Al-Mustapha said;

The announcement by someone (Udeze) that Action Alliance is supporting Atiku was a scam.

Action Alliance has not endorsed anybody. I am still in the race and if I am going to lose, I will lose pretty well and if I am going to win, I will win pretty well.

He also stated that he has not discussed his withdrawal or adoption of any other candidate with anyone, urging Nigerians to disregard such remarks.

The party is currently split into two factions, each with two presidential candidates.

While Solomon-David Akanigbuan was elected as the presidential candidate of the AA faction led by Dr Adekunle Omo-Aje, Al-Mustapha was elected as the presidential candidate of the faction led by Udeze.

Several court judgments and rulings had recognized Omo-Aje as the legitimate chairman of the party, allowing him to submit names of candidates to INEC while upholding Udeze’s expulsion from the party.
