Benedict Olusoji Akanni, a retired army captain, has been named the new Field Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
After Amitolu Shittu, the organization’s first Field Commander, resigned, Captain Akanni was appointed.
On January 20, 2023, Shittu announced his resignation in an open letter.
A security network known as Amotekun was established by all South-West governors.
It was set up to complement the efforts of other federal security agencies to tackle crimes in the South West zone.
The appointment according to details made available by Yussuf Idowu, the Spokesperson of Osun Amotekun on Tuesday, takes immediate effect.
