It was gathered the deceased was among some persons arrested last Saturday night when the police raided the Evergreen Hotel and other spots.

According to The Nation, a source said the deceased was released his health condition worsen due to alleged torture

The source said: “Every other person raided alongside the deceased was granted bail with the sum of N20,000 and was paid through a PoS machine stationed at the police station.

“His family took him to the hospital after securing his bail with N500 and took him to the hospital where he was died after he complained of pains all over his body.”

Youths of the community and family members took the corpse to the police station to express their grievances but policemen at the station shot sporadically into the air to scare them away.

The state police spokesman, SP Funmilayo Odunlami Omisanya, said the Police carried out the raid after being informed that suspected political thugs were in lodged in different brothels within Ore and its environs.

Odunlami said the suspects arrested were screened and released on bond the following day.

According to her: “However, on Wednesday,15th of March, 2023, one of the Manager operating a brothel in the area called the DPO to inform him that some people brought a lifeless body to his office claiming he died a day after he was released.

“These same set of people invaded the Police Divisional Headquarters of Ore that they will destroy and burn down the station but they were dispersed by the men on duty.

“It is pertinent to state that Ondo State Police Command does not handle issues relating to Police Brutality / Incivility to the Members of the Public with kid gloves as we are committed to upholding the primary duty of the job i.e Protection of lives and Property with high level of professionalism in handling cases reported.

“The command will not be deterred by the evil concorted by this unprofessional hungry online reporter who is out to defame the good work of the command by writing an unverified story for cheap popularity.”
