Soldier arrested for stabbing civilian in Ondo

A soldier, Tope Kazeem, has been arrested by the police for allegedly stabbing a civilian, Bunmi Omodele in Akure, Ondo State capital.

Kazeem is said to be attached to the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Akure, stabbed the victim many times on his back during a misunderstanding.

It was gathered that the soldier and his friend, Azeez Ayomide, had a misunderstanding with the victim at Adinlewa Area of Akure, leading to fisticuffs.

The victim was said to have been rushed to the hospital where he is currently receiving treatment

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the incident, said an investigation had commenced.

The PPRO said, “The suspect (soldier) is in our custody. He fought with a civilian and stabbed him. We have begun an investigation.”
