Gunmen have killed a politician identified as John Mai Kyau and his son during an attack on Bureh village in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

It was gathered that the attack happened on Wednesday night.

He said, “Last night, gunmen attacked our Bureh village in Mangu Halle Ward and killed two persons. Those killed were John Mai Kyau who contested to represent the Ward in the locality sometime ago. The gunmen also killed his son while his wife sustained injuries. She is at the hospital receiving treatment presently.

“So, this afternoon, we just buried the two victims who were killed during the attack.”

The lawmaker representing Mangu South in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Bala Fwangji, also confirmed the attack, describing it as “unfortunate”.

“I’m in Abuja now but my people called to inform me about the attack which led to the killing of two persons. I will visit the affected village as soon as I return. What happened is rather unfortunate,” the lawmaker said.

The State Police spokesman, DSP Alabo Alfred, could not be reached to comment on the attack as he did pick up his calls when contacted. PUNCH reports.
