One Alhaja Kadijat Falekulo has been hacked to death by some yet-to-be-identified persons in Ondo state, the police in the South West state have said.
The 70-year-old Falekulo was murdered in her room in Sabo Area of Ondo town.
The police said they have launched an investigation in the assassination.
A machete cut was reportedly seen on her neck, an indication that the deceased was murdered.
A source said the assailant went to the deceased’s residence under the guise of buying foodstuff from her.
The source said, “The gunmen said they wanted to buy foodstuff from the woman and as she got out to attend to them, suddenly they brought out a matchet and cut her at the neck and after that, they stole her jewellery.”
According to the source, after committing the act, the hoodlums allegedly attempted to set the room ablaze but were not successful.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the incident, said investigations had begun
