Gunmen are said to have shot Justice Azunda, the immediate past Chief of Staff to the Rivers State government house.

He was also taken to a nearby bush by the criminals.

According to reports, Onuigwe Nwodi and his gang, a suspected cultist terrorising a section of the East-West road, allegedly invaded Isiodu community in Rivers State’s Emohua local government area on Sunday afternoon and shot Azunda.

WITHIN NIGERIA gathered that the criminals responsible for the attack on Sunday were the same gang of cultists the Emohua Local Government Council Chairman, Chidi Lloyd had declared wanted.

A source from the community who confirmed the incident said they were uncertain if Azunda died from the gunshot injury before being dragged away.

Police personnel from the Rumuoji Police Division have already visited Isiodu and some other Emohua communities; however, the Rivers State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement on the attack.

In the meantime; the Council Chairman of Emohua local government has increased the bounty placed on the head of Nwodi and his gang to N2,000,000.

The chairman also banned the use of motorcycles in the local government.
