Two men, Joseph Dennis and Friday Agogo, have been apprehended for robbing and attempting to murder an unidentified market woman in the Ila-Orangun area of Osun state.

Denis, 20, and Agogo, 29 were arrested by men of the Amotekun Corps, in the South West State.

Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi (retd.), Corps Commander of the Amotekun security unit, confirmed the development on Saturday.

He said that the culprits are of Benue State origin.

Adewinmbi disclosed that, “The suspects attacked the woman at Thick Area Elemo Ogun Community on her way to Ila-Orangun town after selling her farm’s produce and they collected her money and also attempted to stab her with a knife.

“They covered their faces with masks for the woman not to recognise them but the woman recognised one of the suspect’s voices.”

He said the duo was apprehended in their hideout after the victim made a distress complaint at the security outfit in Ila.

Thereafter, he said the operatives immediately swung into action.

Adewinmbi added, “The suspects confessed to perpetrating the act and that they have been involved in such activities for a very long time.”

The suspects have been handed over to the police for subsequent investigation and interrogation, the retired military officer stated
