Court sends Kano man to prison for sleeping with neighbour’s wife

  • Prosecution said husband divorced his wife after noticing her affair with the accused
  • The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him.
  • The judge adjourned the case to July 27, 2023.

A Sharia Court in Kano state has remanded a man for allegedly having an affair with his neighbour’s wife.

The man, whose identity was not disclosed, is from Dorayi Quarters in Gwale local government of the North West State.

The man was said to persuaded the neighbour’s wife to divorce her husband, he was also accused of taking the woman on outings whenever her husband was not around.

The police prosecutor told the court that after noticing the relationship between the woman and his neighbour, the husband parted ways with her.

He added that after the divorce, the suspect gave the wife a room in his house to keep her luggage, confirming his suspicion.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him.

Sani Tanimu Sani Hausawa, the Khadi, after ordering his remand, stated that the defendant could be admitted on bail if he brought someone to stand for him and adjourned the case to July 27, 2023.

Meanwhile, One Adejoke Adegbite has been remanded over killing of her husband, Matthew Akinsulie, in Ekiti state.

The 23-year-old Adegbite was remanded alongside one Olasunkanmi Olowoyeye by an Ekiti State Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ado Ekiti District.

In another development, One Abdullahi Isa has been arrested over the dehumanisation and incarceration of his wife for two years in the Maiduguri Metropolitan Area of Borno State.

The suspect was apprehended by the police in the North East state after a complaint was lodged by rights groups.

A video seen by Within Nigeria showed a woman being carried into a waiting ambulance on Friday.

According to a women and children’s rights activist, Comrade Lucy D. Yunana, who was seen in the video, the arrest took place in the Gwange 3 area of Maiduguri on Friday.
