Police Nab 3 For Murder During Cult Clash In Edo

  • The suspects are identified as Odumegu Obi (27), Prince Joe Emmanuel (28) and Sagiru Muhammed (26), allegedly shot the victim dead.

Three suspected cultists have been apprehended over the alleged killing of one Muhammed Abdulsalam (28) in Edo State, the police in the state have disclosed.

Abdulsalam was reportedly shot dead by the suspects during the deadly cult groups clash that happened in Idogbo community.

The suspects are identified as Odumegu Obi (27), Prince Joe Emmanuel (28) and Sagiru Muhammed (26), allegedly shot the victim dead.

The Edo State police spokesman, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident.

He said the DPO of Idogbo, Benin City, received information that one Muhammed Abdulsalam (28) was shot dead by hoodlums suspected to be cultists.

He said the police mobilised to the scene and arrested the suspects and that two double barrel guns and one locally made cut-to-size gun were recovered from them.

Meanwhile, The Edo State Police Command has threatened to seal off hotels, houses and other properties that serve as safe havens for cultists in the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by the state Commissioner of Police, Dankwara Mohammed after a meeting with some concerned citizens of the state and made available to newsmen in Benin through the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor.

“In a bid to expand ideas in finding solutions in fighting the scourge of secret cult activities and killings in the state, I had a meeting with some concerned citizens in my office and after a peaceful deliberation, we came out with some credible and workable solutions, of which I cannot disclose at this meeting until they are executed and targeted results are met.

“I want to use this medium to warn all secret cult members of different cult groups to stop the killings or vacate the state”
