  • Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) warns the public of e-ticketing fraud for Lagos-Ibadan Train Service
  • NRC advises passengers to purchase tickets at railway stations and assures secure online ticketing coming soon

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has informed the public that it has not implemented e-ticketing on the Lagos-Ibadan Train Service and has warned passengers to be wary of fraudsters.

The NRC revealed that cybercriminals allegedly created a website inviting members of the general public to visit the fictitious cyberspace to purchase Lagos to Ibadan train tickets online.

Mr. Mahmoud Yakubu, NRC’s spokesperson, stated in a statement, “NRC has yet to begin selling Lagos to Ibadan train tickets online.”

According to the NRC, this could have been done by fraudsters looking to take advantage of unsuspecting train passengers.

Nigerian doctors to embark on nationwide protests over ‘unmet demands

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced that they will be conducting peaceful protests starting from Wednesday, August 9, 2023, if the Federal Government does not meet their demands.

They plan to picket the Federal Ministry of Health, the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, and the country’s federal and state tertiary health institutions.

NARD had previously started an indefinite strike on July 26, 2023, after their two-week ultimatum to the government expired.

They have several demands, including the implementation of the one-for-one replacement policy for healthcare workers, discontinuation of the downgrading of membership certificates issued by the West African Postgraduate Medical and Surgical Colleges, payment of salary arrears, implementation of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure, a new hazard allowance, and domestication of the Medical Residency Training Act, among others.
