- Security operatives arrived after the attackers had fled the scene
- State police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the occurrence and stated ongoing surveillance efforts in the area
Unidentified attackers have set fire to the residence of Paschal Agbodike, a member representing Ihiala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The assailants reportedly arrived at Agbodike’s home in Ubahi-Mbosi, Ihiala Local Government Area, around 1 am on Tuesday.
They unleashed gunfire and proceeded to ignite the premises. Agbodike, who was once the deputy speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, was away on legislative duties in Abuja at the time.
He learned of the incident via phone. Although the culprits had fled before security personnel arrived, the state police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, verified the occurrence and assured ongoing surveillance efforts in the vicinity.
Agbodike refrained from attributing blame or indicating any potential political motives.
“The area has been condoned and security operatives have been deployed in the area. There are ongoing surveillance efforts by the operatives,” he said.
