The brother of the late businessman Alhaji Dikko Chemist, Aliyu Maidamma, has been kidnapped by gunmen who are believed to be kidnappers.

According to reports, he was abducted in Tambuwal town, the administrative centre of Tambuwal Local Government Area in Sokoto State, amid sporadic gunfire.

The alleged bandits were believed to be launching a retaliation strike after security personnel neutralised several of their comrades 45 kilometres away from Tambuwal in the Kebbe area.

In Kebbe Town, the seat of the Kebbe Local Government Area and one of the most remote regions of the State, military forces have set up camp.

A source from Tambuwal town explained that the bandits storm Tambuwal motor park at about 9 pm in their numbers, shooting sporadically, before kidnaping Maidamma.

He added that those who saw them said they were heading to Kebbe town.

The source said, “there was no light in Tambuwal when the attack took place, which gave bandits the opportunity to carry out the attack successfully without resistance.”

Calls put to the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ahamed Rufa’e, the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, did not go through.
