Ogun Police Apprehend Two Robbery Suspects

A security patrol in the Oke Ejigbo region of Ogun state apprehended two robbery suspects.

  • The suspects confessed that three of them were seen but one was able to escape
  • Odutola reported the recovery of various items including a speaker, woofer music engine, Samsung DVDs, LG DVDs, electronic cookers, Infinix phones, Techno Spark phones, and Itel batteries.

In the Ogun state neighbourhood of Oke Ejigbo, a joint security patrol has detained two robbery suspects.

Police officers and members of the So-Safe Corps were able to detain the suspects, Kolawole Shobowale and Moruf Soyoye, about 6:30 am as a result of several complaints about break-ins at people’s homes and businesses.

The suspects admitted to burglarizing nearby homes before being spotted by the So-Safe Commander who was monitoring the area, according to a statement from SP Omolola Odutola, the Ogun State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO).

Three of the suspects were allegedly seen, but only one managed to get away, the suspects admitted, according to her.

Odutola said: “One escaped, one was seen moving with blood stains on his legs while carrying a live Turkey. The SO SAFE team trailed them to their houses and cordoned off the house, leading to the arrest of the above suspects.

“The following items were found in that same house and suspected to be properties belonging to victims they looted:

“One live Turkey, a plasma TV, two speakers, a socket extension two hand saws, three remote controls, three litres of vegetable oil, two kegs of 5 litres palm oil, 25 litres of vegetable oil, half bag of rice and a school bag containing clothes.

“Others are two standing fans, a GOTV, three mouth spanner, a pack of Olive toothpaste, three Oral B toothpaste, bags containing used provisions, one big pack of Sunlight detergent, 21 pieces of new clothes in sack, 67 pieces of clothes inside sack, 17 pieces of new clothes inside sack, 13 pieces of new clothes in a travelling bag, five sachets of macaroni and raw beans, four sachets of Indomie noodles, two hammers and a screwdriver, power bank, one bucket containing assorted provisions and insecticide and a bucket containing assorted soaps.”

Odutola said a speaker, a woofer music engine, one Samsung DVD, an LG DVD, one electronic cooker, two Infinix phones, a Techno Spark phone and two Itel batteries were also recovered.

She said: “Members of the community have continued to throng the Oke Itokun Division to identify some of their items that were stolen months back without any clue pointing towards suspects.

“The matter will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for further investigation and prosecution.”
