The Lagos State police command has initiated an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the tragic demise of a 22-year-old tailoring apprentice named Hakeem Mujib.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police public relations officer in the state, made this announcement on Monday. Hundeyin revealed that the command received information about the incident on Sunday night, but no arrests have been made in connection with the case.

He assured the public that the command is actively pursuing those suspected to be responsible for Hakeem’s death, vowing to leave no stone unturned during the investigation.

The details surrounding the young man’s alleged beating to death by individuals suspected to be tailors vary. Some sources suggest he was fatally assaulted due to alleged theft, while others claim he was targeted as a spy in the Obadina area of Lagos Island.

Reportedly, the apprentice and his friend named Kehinde sought refuge in a two-story building on Obadina Street, off Obe Street, Lagos Island, around 2:00 a.m. while returning from an errand assigned by his employer.

Tragically, he was mistaken for a robbery spy and subjected to a fatal beating by unidentified individuals before assistance could arrive.
