An unidentified man has tragically taken his own life in Kogi State.

The incident occurred around 12:30 pm on Tuesday at Meme Bridge, which is located a short distance from the well-known Dunamis Church in Lokoja.

According to reports, the deceased, who worked as a tricycle rider, arrived at the bridge, parked his tricycle, and jumped into the river.

An anonymous bystander informed journalists that they were unable to intervene and prevent the man from committing suicide.

“There was nothing anybody could do when the Keke Man jumped into the river. When he jumped, we saw a snake, and there was nothing anyone could do at that moment,” he said.

The corpse has yet to be recovered as of the time of filing this report.

The Kogi State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, confirmed the incident to journalists on Tuesday.

”We are yet to get details of the incident. Our officers have been mobilised to recover the body of the deceased. As soon as we get details, our unit will issue details of the sad incident,” he stated.
