  • Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Nasarawa State’s Keana Local Government Area accused the state government of excluding them from Federal Government palliative distribution
  • IDPs from various communities appealed for the reconstruction of their destroyed houses and basic amenities in their communities

Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Nasarawa State’s Keana Local Government Area (LGA) have accused the state government of failing to include them in the Federal Government’s palliative distribution and have demanded inclusion.

This is according to a statement signed by Mr Dannis Utsa, Chairman of the United Farmers’ Association of Kadarko in Keana LGA.

According to the statement, the association’s chairman stated that they are already vulnerable, and the effect of the removal of fuel subsidies has worsened their situation daily.

However, the chairman of the association stated that farmers from Keana LGA’s Ayua, Upuur, Ngur, Kpelev, Bature, Antsa, Kwara, and Adootu communities had been living in an IDP camp since their villages were attacked and destroyed.

Mr Utsa also urged the state government to strengthen security in their communities and return them to allow farmers to care for their families.

According to the statement, “we are appealing to the state government to rebuild our destroyed houses and provide them with basic amenities.”

He also stated that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) had taken over the IDP camp in the Kadarko area and urged them to return it as a temporary shelter before their communities were rebuilt.
