On Thursday, the Ogun State House of Assembly expressed worry over the ongoing imprisonment of their representative for Sagamu Constituency I, Damilare Bello, by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Bello was apprehended on September 20 in relation to cult-related violence in Sagamu.

During their session, the Assembly passed a resolution demanding the release of Bello to ensure his constituents have adequate representation, following a motion by Majority Leader Yusuf Sheriff and seconded by Minority Leader Lukman Adeleye, gaining support through a voice vote during the plenary chaired by Speaker Olakunle Oluomo.

Earlier in their submissions, the lawmakers asked the DSS to release Bello on bail pending the conclusion of their investigation.

In another news WithinNigeria reported that In the early hours of Thursday, Mathew Abo, the kidnapped Benue State Commissioner of Information, Culture, and Tourism, was released.

At around 1:00am, Abo, who was kidnapped by armed men who broke into his Zaki-Biam home on Sunday, was believed to have been reunited with his family.

No information about whether a ransom was paid before his release was provided by a family source.
