  • Kogi State Commissioner of Police vows to take decisive action against election troublemakers ahead of November 11 governorship election
  • The police command collaborates with security agencies and promises a level playing field for political parties during campaigns

The Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Bertrand C. Onuoha, has asserted that the police force will take decisive action against troublemakers before and during the governorship election scheduled for November 11 in the state.

The Kogi State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Williams Ovye Ayah, reported that the commissioner emphasized that the command would not tolerate any violence initiated by political actors during ongoing campaign activities. He noted that the command is collaborating with other security agencies on election security management and is fully prepared to take strict measures against anyone caught disrupting the electoral process.

The Commissioner of Police is committed to providing a level playing field for all political parties as they engage in campaigns, rallies, and processions leading up to the polls.

He also condemned an attack on a police officer during a political clash in Idah, ordering the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of CID to investigate the incident. The command remains dedicated to engaging critical stakeholders in election security management to ensure a secure environment for the election.

ADC Candidate Appeals for Support from Melaye and Braimoh for Kogi Governorship

Leke Abejide, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the upcoming Kogi State governorship election on November 11, has called on Dino Melaye, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Olayinka Braimoh, the candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), to consider the merit of his endorsement by Kogi West elders and support his candidacy.

Abejide made this appeal during a meeting held at his campaign headquarters in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State.

It is worth noting that several Kogi West elders have endorsed Abejide as the consensus candidate for the region, intending to ensure a rotation of power to the West.
