  • Hoodlums attacked Federal Fire Service personnel, prompting them to request reinforcement from the Police and NSCDC.
  • Two people died and two others were hospitalized after the Canadian High Commission in Abuja was destroyed.

Samsung Plaza, a well-known retailer of mobile phones and accessories on Aminu Kano Crescent in Abuja, was completely destroyed by fire on Monday.

Accroding to The Whistler, men of the Federal Fire Service who were assigned to suppress the fire were attacked by thugs who were robbing the business, according to Nkechi Isa, the Public Relations Officer of the FCT Emergency Management Agency, who verified the story over the phone.

She claimed, “They had to ask the Police and NSCDC for reinforcement because hoodlums attacked the Federal Fire Service men who were sent to put out the fire.”

She said that efforts were being made to put out the fire even though its cause was still unknown.
