- Nigeria Police Force, led by FPRO ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, assures public, dispels concerns amid pre-election protests
- Adejobi underscores the efficacy of police deployments, allaying fears, and ensuring a secure Bayelsa State governorship election
As the Bayelsa State governorship election looms on Saturday, the Nigeria Police Force seeks to allay concerns, emphasizing that there is no need for alarm.
The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made this declaration on Friday in response to recent protests in Bayelsa State.
Police officers dispersed a group of women who gathered at the command headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, demanding the removal of Commissioner of Police, Tolani Alausa, accusing him of bias.
In an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Adejobi assured the public, stating, “I am sure that the DIG in charge of the election in Bayelsa State has reacted to that. There was a protest in Bayelsa, but I don’t know much about it. Every Nigerian read it in the news, and the DIG had reacted to that. So there is no cause for alarm. Everybody has the right to protest.”
He continued, highlighting the presence of senior officers on the ground and their ability to assess and respond appropriately to the situation. “I can assure you that our deployments are already paying off,” Adejobi added, emphasizing the effectiveness of the measures taken to ensure a smooth and secure electoral process in Bayelsa State.
