The 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army has donated a solar-powered borehole to Alamala, its host community in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The commander, Brigadier General Mohammed Aminu, while commissioning the borehole on Saturday, said it was part of the “Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities for Exercise Still Waters III.”

The project was carried out in fulfilment of the request for a borehole made by the Baale of Alamala, Akeem Adeyemi, during the Brigade Commander’s visit on September 20.

The community head told the commander about the water scarcity challenge being faced by the community.

Aminu said, “The borehole project was part of the activities undertaken by the Brigade to improve on the existing civil-military cooperation within the Brigade Area of Responsibility.”

Reacting, the Baale of Alamala community appreciated the Army for making the project a reality and ensuring that the borehole would be put to good use.

Similarly, the commander also flagged off free medical outreach at Owode Town Hall in the Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun, targeting about 1,000 beneficiaries.

Activities for the medical outreach included free medical consultations, general body and blood pressure checks, testing of blood sugar levels, eye tests, distribution of mosquito nets, and reading glasses, among others.
