  • The father had reported his son missing at Kemta Police Station
  • All attempts to find him were unsuccessful

The Ogun State Police Command made a grim discovery on Wednesday, December 7, unearthing a shallow grave in Ajebo, Abeokuta, where the remains of 18-year-old Quadri Salami were found.

Quadri, a 100-level student at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile Ife, Osun State, was tragically killed for ritual purposes.

His body was buried at Mile 6 Ajebo area in the state capital.

In a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, it was revealed that the father of the deceased had reported his son missing at Kemta Police Station. He had been missing since November 8, and despite extensive efforts to locate him, all attempts were unsuccessful.

SP Omolola Odutola explained that the decomposed body parts of the deceased were discovered in the shallow grave following a tracking clue that led to the arrest of one of the suspects, Akeem Usman. Usman was apprehended in possession of the victim’s phone, which aided in the investigation.

Odutola said the suspect implicated one Ifadowo Niyi, and said that both of them committed the heinous crime by slaughtering the victim (Quadri)and dismembered his vital parts for ritual purposes. She said Ifadowo went away with Quadri’s head, and his two wrists, and paid the sum of one hundred thousand Naira into Akeem Usman’s account as proceeds from the sale of the human body parts.

“The suspects thereafter continued to sell the victim’s other body parts on demand to Internet fraudsters and buried the heart, two legs, and flesh inside a plastic rubber for rituals and used the remaining parts for ‘Awure'(luck charm) a crime against humanity. Among their confessional statement, the duo admitted that they have used four other human heads for money rituals known as “Osole” the statement read.

The police spokesperson added that the suspects are now in Eleweran at SCID for continuation of discreet investigations and will araigned in court afterwards.
