On Tuesday morning, a fire reportedly engulfed the office of Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum.
As per information from counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama, the governor was present in his secondary office at the Musa Usman Secretariat when the incident occurred.
At around 12:29 pm, fire service vehicles were observed leaving the Government House to extinguish the flames.
Subsequently, reports emerged that access to the Government House was restricted for vehicles, workers, and individuals by the police at the main entrance.
However, details regarding the extent of damage caused by the fire remained unclear as it was reported to have affected the governor’s primary office.
Despite attempts by journalists to confirm the incident and assess the damage, inquiries directed to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Isa Gusau, went unanswered. He neither responded to calls nor replied to text messages.
