  • Governor Bala Mohammed reveals sleepless nights due to alleged conspiracy by former state leaders against his reelection
  • The governor commends President Tinubu and the Supreme Court, emphasizing the need for a competent successor in Bauchi State

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed disclosed that he endured seven sleepless nights leading up to the Supreme Court judgment that solidified his reelection as the state governor.

Addressing his supporters after a victory rally at the government house, the governor attributed his restless nights to a group of former state leaders who, he claimed, fabricated falsehoods against him at the Presidency to undermine his mandate.

Expressing gratitude for prevailing against the alleged conspiracy, Governor Mohammed stated, “They told the Presidency that I am a problem and will give them more problems if I remain the governor. But, to the glory of God, we did everything possible, and we emerged victorious at the end of the day.”

Highlighting attempts to strain his relationships, the governor revealed that efforts were made to create conflicts with his friend, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who appreciated the state’s initiatives.

Commending President Tinubu for refraining from interfering in the judicial process, Governor Mohammed praised the Supreme Court for delivering justice in all the appeals before it. He remarked that Friday’s judgments had restored the image of the judiciary as the last hope of the common man in the country.

Looking ahead, Governor Mohammed emphasized the importance of selecting a competent successor at the end of his tenure. He asserted, “We will no longer allow strangers to be governors in Bauchi State; only those whose roots are well known from any part of the state.” The focus, he said, is on finding someone capable of surpassing the achievements of the current administration.
