On Tuesday, the Minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, conducted an inspection of the Victor Attah International Airport in Akwa Ibom State at the invitation of Governor Umo Eno.
Keyamo commended the state government’s achievements in aviation infrastructure, particularly praising the near completion of the new terminal building as the best facility by any sub-national entity in the country.
He highlighted the terminal’s advanced capabilities for both domestic and international flights, showcasing Akwa Ibom’s commitment to aviation progress.
The minister, during the guided tour with the governor, underscored the strategic importance of the airport’s maintenance, repairs, and overhaul facility, emphasizing its potential to serve not only Nigeria but also West, East, and North Africa.
“The inspection covered key areas such as the MRO, the upcoming terminal building, and the newly constructed taxiway, all of which contribute to the airport’s growing prominence.
“Governor Eno is actively seeking collaboration with the Federal Government to fully harness the airport’s potential. The prospect of utilizing the airport’s state-of-the-art facilities for the benefit of the nation aligns with the government’s broader vision for advancing the aviation sector.
“The Akwa Ibom Government’s commitment to aviation development marks a significant milestone in the region’s infrastructure and positions Victor Attah International Airport as a pivotal hub for air travel across the African continent,” the minister said.
