  • A collision occurred in Abuja as an FRSC Hilux Van, pursuing an erring driver, collided with a car carrying a pregnant woman
  • Bashir Bashir, the car driver, reported the incident, stating that the FRSC van, chasing another vehicle, hit his car from behind

In the Utako District of Abuja in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), a Hilux Van belonging to the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) collided with a car on Tuesday while officials pursued an erring driver.

The car, driven by Bashir Bashir, was conveying his pregnant wife, Olabisi, to her office at the time of the incident.

Bashir recounted, “We were coming from Lugbe to work. The road safety officials always stay at the junction. When I approached the junction, a vehicle was in front of me. I discovered that they wanted to stop the car but the driver did not stop.

“The road safety officials in their van started chasing the vehicle. We were in between the FRSC van and the vehicle being chased. Unfortunately, it was my car they (road safety) hit from behind. My pregnant wife is seven months gone. She has been taken to the hospital.”
