  • The bandit was killed on Sunday

The Nigeria Police Force, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has announced the elimination of a notorious bandit in Abuja and the thwarting of a kidnapping attempt.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement, revealing that the operation resulted in the bandit’s death on Sunday.

Adejobi stated that at about 1015hours on Sunday, operatives of the DFI-IRT, acting on intelligence, got information on the hideout of a notorious bandit group in the suburb of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), led by one Isa Dei-Dei and immediately proceeded to the location for possible arrest.

The Force spokesperson said that upon closing in on the bandit group, they sighted the police and fled but the police operatives immediately went after them, and engaged them in a fierce gun duel.

“In the process, the notorious Isa Dei-Dei was neutralised while other members of the syndicate managed to escape with gunshot injuries.

“We therefore urge members of the public, most especially medical practitioners, to call our attention to anyone or patients seen with gunshot wounds for further investigation,” Adejobi said.
