Armed herdsmen have attacked Umogidi community in Entekpa Ward of Adoka District in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
Two persons were killed while several others were injured during the attack on Thursday evening.

A local of the area, Joseph Adakole, claimed those killed were his uncle and cousin.
He disclosed that the marauders stormed the community and opened fire on the victims.
“The herdsmen attacked Umogidi again in the evening of Thursday and killed some persons and left others injured. The two that were confirmed dead so far were my relatives. One was my uncle, and the other was a cousin,” he said.
Reacting, the Caretaker Chairman of Otukpo, Alfred Omakwu, said aside from killing the two victims, the marauders also engaged the military and security personnel deployed to the area.
He further said that the attackers, after retreating, threatened to stage a comeback, but calm had returned to the community.
“From Friday, there has been calm, and the military presence has increased. But we are still receiving threats from them. Two of our youths were killed on Thursday. At the point of their entry into the community, they engaged those ones and the military too,” he said.
