The Osun State Police Command has revealed that it arrested four persons for alleged membership of secret cults.

It added that it also arrested four alleged members of a car theft syndicate.

Addressing journalists during a press briefing and suspect parade at the police command on Monday, DCP Hope Okafor revealed that the suspects arrested for cultism were nabbed along Idi-Omo area, Osogbo.

“The suspects arrested for cultism are; Adejumo Boluwatife, male, 20 years, Adisa Lateef, male, 23 years, Gbolahan Oladipupo, male, 25 years and Adeagbo Musiliu aka Omo Oshodi, male, 20 years of age.

“On 7th February, 2024 at about 6:30pm, upon a tip-off, the following suspected cultists were apprehended along Idi-Omo Area, Osogbo, one Agboola Abeed ‘m’ popularly known as Emir and Adeagbo Musibau ‘m’ popularly known as Omo Oshodi.

“During the interrogation, suspects confessed to be members of Eiye confraternity who have been terrorizing the citizens around Idi-Omo in Osogbo. Suspects will be charged to court after the completion of investigation,” Okafor said.

Parading the car theft syndicate, DCP Okafor revealed that they were apprehended by a team of anti-kidnapping operatives acting upon credible intelligence.

“The suspects arrested are: Temitope Oke, male, 33 years, Wasiu Hammed, male, 19 years, Olamilekan Yusuf, male, 21 years and Julius Wuraola, female, 28 years.

“On the 7th February, 2024 at about 1:00am a team of Anti-kidnapping operatives upon receiving a credible intelligence, intercepted a four man gang of suspected car theft syndicate along Osunjela Ilesha road while they were enroute to Kabba Kogi State to sell the stolen cars.

“Preliminary interrogation revealed that, they operated under the guise of gear mechanics and subsequently steals their unsuspecting customers’ cars.

“The cars recovered include one 2014 Toyota Camry white in colour with registration number LSR 935 JC Lagos; one 2010 Toyota Camry, red in colour unregistered; one 2005 Honda Accord gold colour with registration number FST 917 BF Lagos and one 2010 Toyota Camry black colour.”

Okafor also disclosed that investigation was still ongoing to recover other cars in their possession and possible arrest of other members of the syndicate.

“The suspects will be charged to court after the completion of the investigation,” she concluded.
