The police in Katsina State say no food truck was attacked in the state.

The state police said this in reaction to a video circulating on social media showing an attack on a truck loaded with food items by some residents.

In a statement issued by Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, on Friday, the command described the video as false.

According to the statement, a thorough investigation into the matter showed that no such incident took place within the state.

“There is no evidence where a trailer loaded with foodstuffs was attacked or the foodstuffs looted at any point in time by members of the public throughout the state, as captioned in that video. We, therefore, wish to categorically state that this rumour is entirely false and unsubstantiated,” he said.

The command urged the public to desist from spreading false information, saying that such information could cause unnecessary panic among residents of the state and the country at large.

It also said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Aliyu Musa, was committed to taking all necessary measures to ensure law and order in the state
