In Ondo State, one Adebayo Peter has murdered his friend, known as Lekan, after smashing his head with a gas canon.
The incident happened at the Ireakari-Oloko junction area in Akure South Local Council Area at the weekend.
Peter was said before have been under the influence of a hard drug suspected to be ‘ice,’ a crystalized form of amphetamine-based drugs, when he committed the crime.
The suspect has since been apprehended by the police and the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue.
The suspect and the deceased were said to have hailed from the same community as Ede in Osun State.
According to sources, Peter and Lekan had misunderstanding before the former attacked the deceased with a gas cannon, which he smashed on his head.
“It was the shouts of one of their friends, who hails from Delta State, that attracted our attention to the incident.
“When we got into the room, we found Lekan in a pool of blood. He was still breathing. But shortly after, he died. We had to invite the police.”
While confirming the incident, the police spokesperson in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, stated that the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for further investigation
