Hon. Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki, the representative for Faskari/Kankara/Sabuwa Federal Constituency, has expressed grave concern over the escalating banditry attacks plaguing his constituents in Katsina State.

In a telephone conversation with our reporter, Tafoki voiced his distress, describing the insecurity in his constituency as alarming, particularly noting the increasing attacks in Kankara and parts of Faskari local government areas.

“The continuous onslaught by bandits in our communities is deeply troubling,” Tafoki lamented, highlighting the unbearable toll it has taken on lives, property, and the displacement of residents.

He underscored the tangible fear and anxiety prevailing among the populace, with many feeling unsafe even within their own homes. Tafoki revealed the distressing reality of families being separated, with men seeking refuge elsewhere while women and children flee to neighbouring towns for safety.

While acknowledging the efforts of Governor Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda in addressing the crisis, Tafoki emphasized the urgent need for all stakeholders, including national security agencies, to prioritize the safety and security of Nigerians.

To draw attention to the severity of the situation, Tafoki presented a motion before the house under matters of urgent public importance. He emphasized the constitutional rights to life and freedom of movement, urging immediate action to address the rampant killings and kidnappings in the region.

Tafoki cited recent incidents, including the abduction of wedding guests, where kidnappers demanded exorbitant ransoms exceeding N200 million.
