Ondo: Truck falls on vehicle, crushes 3 to death

A fatal accident in Ondo state has left at least three persons dead, the police in the south west state have said.

The deceased met their end after a brewery truck, fully loaded with beer, fell on a Volkswagen Golf vehicle.

The mishap happened on Tuesday at Liyetu area of the town along Ondo-Ore highway, in Ondo State.

The crashed vehicle with registration number BUR 852 TS was said to conveying passengers to Ondo.

The state police image maker, Funmi Odunlami confirmed the casualties.

He said the dead passengers have been taken to the mortuary and the injure are receiving treatment at a hospital.

Odunlami said: “Policemen have been deployed to the scene, the deceased were deposited at the General Hospital Morgue, Ondo, while the injured passenger had been taken to Trauma Centre in Ondo town.

“The Police Motor Traffic Division of Enu-owa has moved into to clear the traffic on the road.”

She advised the motoring public to make use of alternative routes, to avoid been trapped in the hold up and people whose loved ones ply the route should endeavour to check on them
