Adamawa: Man, 42, arrested for raping 9-year-old daughter

One Auwul Shaibu has been apprehended for allegedly raping his nine-year-old daughter, the Police in Adamawa state have said.

It’s gathered that the incident happened on March 12 in the Kabak Mubi South Local Government Area of the north east state.

42-year-old Shaibu was arrested by the police after a complaint was filed by his wife, Asmau Isa, who raised the alarm about the incident.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Yahaya Suleiman, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said the suspect confessed to committing the crime.

Suleiman said, “I am aware of the incident. He is currently in custody for raping his daughter, and she is a minor. The complaints were made by the mother of the daughter, who happens to be the wife of the man.

“On March 12, 2024, the Adamawa State Police Command arrested a 42-year-old man for raping his nine-year-old biological daughter. The incidents occurred in the Kabak Mubi South Local Government Area on March 11, 2024.”

The PPRO added that during the course of the inquiry, the suspect blamed his abominable act on narcotics and excessive alcohol.

Suleiman noted that the alleged rapist will be prosecuted upon completion of the investigation.

“During the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to committing the offence but blamed it on taking too much alcohol and drugs.

“The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Dankombo Morris, directs a diligent investigation and prosecution of the suspect upon completion of the investigation,” the police spokesperson said
