  • Waive emphasizes the importance of valuing human life and urges all parties involved to cease hostilities for peace

Francis Waive, a Member of the House of Representatives for Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency, urges a thorough investigation into the recent killings and reprisal attacks in Delta State’s Okuama community.

Expressing shock over the incident that led to the loss of army personnel on a peacekeeping mission, Waive emphasized the importance of valuing every life affected by the conflict.

In a statement released on Monday, Waive, also the Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, stressed the need for an investigation to uncover any involvement of fifth columnists in the violence.

“I received distressing news of the violence in Okuama Community,” Waive stated. “I urge all parties involved to cease hostilities and embrace peace.”

He strongly denounced the loss of life and extended condolences to the affected families and institutions. Waive demanded an impartial inquiry to identify the perpetrators and ensure justice prevails.

“We must refrain from baseless accusations and instead await the results of a thorough investigation,” he emphasized. “Attacking our armed forces who diligently serve our nation is unacceptable.”

Waive urged collaboration between security agencies to locate and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the soldiers’ deaths. Additionally, he called for urgent assistance from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to support displaced residents.

Highlighting the tragic consequences of the conflict, Waive appealed for restraint from both the military and the community in responding to provocations.

“We must recognize the sanctity of human life and work towards a peaceful resolution,” he urged. “Cooperation between all stakeholders is essential to finding lasting solutions.”

Waive urged the people of the Okuama Community and their neighbours to prioritize peace and cooperate with authorities to resolve the crisis by following the law and moral principles.
