Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has announced the completion of arrangements to acquire 10,000 hectares of land to participate fully in the federal government’s food security programme.

The governor made this known in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, disclosing that the state has been identified as a key player in achieving the federal government’s food security agenda.

He referenced President Bola Tinubu’s statement in January 2024, in which he announced that the federal government would cultivate approximately 500,000 hectares of farmland to combat the prevailing hunger crisis nationwide.

Governor Sule specified that Nasarawa State has been tasked with cultivating 10,000 hectares of land to produce a selected crop.

“We are considering utilizing both our existing resources and those provided as part of the project. The executive council will deliberate on the decision to develop the 10,000 hectares of land,” he stated.
