Driver kills 5-year-old in Lagos

  • The culprit, who was driving a car with number plate FST- 843 GY, was said to have accidentally hit the victim while reversing.

In Lagos State, a man simply identified as Daniel has allegedly killed a five-year-old girl after hitting her with his car.

The incident happened on Thursday afternoon at Adura Field in the Ijaye Ojokoro area of Lagos State with his car.

Daniel has since been arrested by the police after the victim was confirmed dead at the hospital where she was rushed to.

The culprit, who was driving a car with number plate FST- 843 GY, was said to have accidentally hit the victim while reversing.

“The Toyota Camry car with registration number FST 843 GY was driven by one Daniel. The driver of the Toyota Camry was reversing at Adura Field and unknowingly knocked down the victim,” Punch quoted a police source to have said said.

The source added, “She was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident.

Hundeyin disclosed that the family was allowed to take possession of the corpse and interred it accordance with Islamic rites, adding that the suspect and the vehicle are in custody.

He said, “The corpse was released to the family on their demand for burial according to the Islamic injunction, while the suspect and the vehicle are in police custody for investigation.”
