Troops Raid IPOB Camp, Exhume Bodies Of Kidnap Victims From Shallow Graves In Imo

The spokesman further said that the troops discovered shallow graves at the camp of those kidnapped and killed by the gang.

  • Unuakhalu said that the raid was conducted on Thursday and Friday to clear the notorious camp.
  • He said that during the clearance operation, the troops came in contact with the criminals and forced them to flee with various degrees of gunshot wounds. 

Troops of Operation Udoka of the joint task force in the south-east says it has successfully raided  a notorious camp belonging to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Imo.

In a statement on Sunday, Jonah Unuakhalu, spokesperson of the operation of Udok, said that the troops encountered the fleeing criminals, some of whom sustained gunshot wounds, and unearthed some shallow graves during the clearance operation.

The raid, which was conducted on Thursday and Friday, led to the recovery of three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) bomb, a motorcycle, seven Baofeng radios, local ornaments, foreign ATM card, two SIM cards, two voter’s cards, plate numbers of stolen vehicles, and a toolbox.

He said that the B44 Camp of Monday Oluchi-Ogu, located around Njaba River on the border between Awo-Omama community in Oru East LGA and Ezoiha community in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo, was destroyed.

The force commander assured citizens of the south-east of the army’s determination to maintain peace in the area.

“Troops further encountered and detonated some of the planted IEDs meant to hinder troops movements,” he said.

The spokesman further said that the troops discovered shallow graves at the camp of those kidnapped and killed by the gang.

He urged the general public to provide timely, reliable and credible information through toll free line 193.
