It was said that Yan Ba Beli disrupted the procession without provocation, assaulting some of the horse riders with sticks, which angered the traditional ruler’s escort.

In the ensuing chaos, the son of the District Head was said to have been hit by a sharp object which inflicted a serious injury on his head leading to his death.

Meanwhile, the Police is yet to confirm the incident as of the time of writing this report.

But the State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed on Saturday evening, paid a condolence visit to the Palace of the District Head of Miri, Mal Hussaini Abubakar over the death of his son, Muhammadu Ghani
