George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), stated that climate change significantly contributes to insecurity in Nigeria.

Speaking at the launch of Nigeria’s Nationally Determined Contribution Implementation Framework (NDC-IF) (2023-2030) in Abuja, Akume, represented by his Senior Special Assistant, Prof Bolaji Babatunde, emphasized that the country’s insecurity is largely ecological and urged not to underestimate the impact of climate change.

Akume highlighted that the NDC-IF is crucial for addressing climate issues, offering strategies for reducing greenhouse emissions and fostering sustainable development.

The Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Lawal, also underscored the framework’s importance, calling for stakeholder dedication to promote green growth and resilience.
