The Enugu State government has opened its first modern computerized vehicle inspection service center.

During the inauguration, Governor Peter Mbah urged vehicle owners and transporters to secure roadworthiness certificates to help prevent avoidable accidents and vehicle breakdowns in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the governor, Transport Commissioner Dr. Obi Ozor highlighted that this state-of-the-art facility marks a major advancement in the administration’s dedication to road safety, environmental protection, and the well-being of its citizens.

He said, “The commissioning of the facility ushers in a new era of transportation safety and efficiency in Enugu State.”

The governor added that the inauguration was a testament to his administration’s dedication to modernizing the state infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life of the citizenry.

He enthused further, “The centre is equipped with cutting-edge technology designed to provide comprehensive and accurate inspections of vehicles,” expressing optimism that the initiative will not only “reduce the incidence of road accidents caused by faulty vehicles but also cut down on harmful emissions, contributing to a healthier environment.”

Earlier in his address, the Enugu State Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer, Mr Valentine Chime, advised motorists to avoid plying the roads if their vehicles did not undergo the inspection test.
