A local, who is privy to the incident and spoke to newsmen in confidence due to security threats said “All in all, it was seven people that were killed by Boko Haram in Bassa.”

He said the humanitarian crisis at Erena camp had worsened as more villages got attacked on a daily basis.

The Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun has not issued a statement regarding the incident.

Within Nigeria had reported on Friday how four residents drowned while fleeing terrorists attacks in the middle belt state.

The residents reportedly drowned while fleeing from the terrorists’ attack in the Gurmana community of Shiroro Local Government Area.

It’s gathered that locals in the community often ferried themselves to an island in a canoe where they seek refuge from bandits who frequently target the area.

However, many of the locals who had fled to the island on Wednesday died while returning home on Thursday after their boat capsized.
