  • Abdullahi cautioned pilgrims against including prohibited and sharp items, such as knives, scissors, toy guns, firearms, explosives, flammable materials, meat cleavers, and razor blades, in their hand luggage

The Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Agency has issued a warning to pilgrims about adhering to luggage restrictions on their return flight to Nigeria from Saudi Arabia.

In a statement on Friday, Yunusa Abdullahi, the agency’s public relations officer, reiterated that the weight limits for luggage are eight kilograms for small bags and 32 kilograms for large bags.

Abdullahi cautioned pilgrims against including prohibited and sharp items, such as knives, scissors, toy guns, firearms, explosives, flammable materials, meat cleavers, and razor blades, in their hand luggage.

He also advised that pilgrims should not pack Zamzam water in their main luggage to avoid confiscation by Saudi authorities during airport inspections. Each pilgrim will receive five liters of Zamzam water upon arrival in Kaduna.

Earlier this month, the Independent Hajj Reporters (IHR), a civil society organization, praised the Pilgrims’ Welfare Agency for its decision to refund $50 to pilgrims.

The agency had refunded $50 each to 700 pilgrims who had paid for ‘Hadaya’ (animal sacrifice) due to a price reduction negotiated with the company responsible for slaughtering the animals in Saudi Arabia.
