  • According to the police, a mechanical malfunction caused the vehicle to suddenly accelerate, knocking Prof. Wazis to the ground

Prof. Ruth Wazis tragically passed away on Sunday at her residence, as confirmed by the Borno State Police Command on Tuesday.

The incident occurred while she was parking her car in the garage.

According to Police Commissioner Yusuf Lawal, a mechanical malfunction caused the vehicle to suddenly accelerate, knocking Prof. Wazis to the ground and resulting in serious injuries to her chest.

Despite immediate efforts to rush her to the hospital, Prof. Wazis succumbed to her injuries before medical assistance could be fully administered. Commissioner Lawal explained that members of Prof. Wazis’ family promptly transported her remains to the hospital following the accident.

Prof. Ruth Wazis had previously served as the Head of the Department of Business Management at the University of Maiduguri. The entire university community has been thrown into mourning over the loss of this distinguished academic leader.
