The ward head reported that a resident had informed him that his wife, Amina (not her real name), had seen their neighbor’s 5-year-old boy tied with a chain inside a room.

“Upon receiving the information, a team of detectives led by CSP Mubarak S. Baba, DPO of D’ Division (Dutsen Tanshi), proceeded to the scene and rescued the boy.”

During the interview, the victim identified himself as Hussaini Abubakar, a 5-year-old boy. He revealed that he had been treated inhumanely by his biological father, Abubakar Nuhu, a 50-year-old man.

Hussaini stated that he had been imprisoned and deprived of humane treatment by his father for an unspecified number of days, including three days without food.

The boy, Hussaini Abubakar, was identified as the victim. The state police PRO added that Commissioner of Police, Auwal Muhammad, had directed the Divisional Police Officer to apprehend the offender for investigation and prosecution.

“The defendant claimed he confined the minor to prevent him from stealing their neighbor’s valuables and that he was advised to do so by a friend,” the statement noted.

It was further revealed that the Commissioner of Police had ordered the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.

He also directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the CID to investigate the core of the matter and any other motives behind the heinous act.
