In Oyo State, one Moriana Maruf has met her end after she was viciously attacked by a dog.
The 5-year-old deceased died from the injuries she sustained after she was mauled by the dog.
The incident happened at Adagbada area of Apete, a suburb of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, around 7:4am on Sunday.
It’s gathered that the dog that attacked the girl was owned by one Mrs Eunice Kolade.
The girl was reportedly taken to a private hospital in the area on Tuesday where she was later referred to University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
She later died in the process, a source said.
One of the residents of the area, identified as Mr Sunday, killed the dog after the incident, DAILY POST reports.
A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the little girl was mutilated and disfigured by the dog beyond recognition.
“The dog attacked the little girl beyond recognition. She was taken to a private hospital and was later referred to UCH. She did not survive it.”
The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident.
He disclosed that investigation into the incident has begun.
