In Lagos, a man simply identified as Olumide has killed his 19-year-old son, the police in the State have said.
The suspect allegedly beat his son, Adeyemi, to death over an undisclosed offence. The boy was said to have died from the severe injury he suffered during the fierce and intense beating.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident.
Hundeyin disclosed that the incident was reported to the Alagbado Police Division on Tuesday.
He said the suspect used a shovel to inflict a deep cut on his son’s right-hand side.
He said, “The young man was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment, but when the injury became serious, he was taken to the General Hospital Ikeja, where he gave up the ghost as a result of tetanus infection, as confirmed by the doctor on duty.”
Hundeyin added that the scene was immediately visited by detectives of the division and the case is still under investigation.
