Police officer arrested for fatally shooting father in Maiduguri

  • Police officers on patrol heard the gunshots and promptly responded, securing the area

Linus Wadzani, a sergeant with Mopol 6 Maiduguri, has been arrested for fatally shooting his father, retired ASP Wadzani Ntasiri, in Borno State.

The incident occurred around 4:30 pm on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at their residence in the Tudu Area of Maiduguri.

According to ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Borno State Command, Sgt. Wadzani returned home with his AK-47 rifle and had a disagreement with his father, during which he fired multiple shots.

Police officers on patrol heard the gunshots and promptly responded, securing the area. “The suspect was disarmed and arrested, preventing further harm,” the police spokesperson confirmed.

Sgt. Wadzani is currently in custody at the State CID Maiduguri as investigations continue. The deceased’s body has been taken to the Specialist Hospital Maiduguri for an autopsy.
