  • The Gombe State Government clarified it had not received the 20 trucks of rice allocated by the federal government, despite claims
  • The state criticized the Minister of Information for misleading statements and noted similar rice delivery issues in neighboring states

The Gombe State Government has clarified that it has not yet received the 20 trucks of rice allocated to it by the federal government, despite claims by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.

In a recent statement, the state’s Director-General of Press Affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli, explained that the clarification was necessary following comments made by the minister, who had announced the rice distribution in July 2024. According to Misilli, while the allocation was announced, the actual delivery of the rice did not occur.

The state government also pointed out that similar issues have been reported in neighboring states such as Adamawa, Yobe, and Taraba, where promised rice deliveries have also been delayed.

In the statement, the government criticized the minister for singling out Gombe State in his comments and urged him to verify the status of the rice delivery through appropriate channels to prevent the spread of misleading information.
